Artist Sierra Lonepine Briano, after a visit to Yelapa in 2004, fell in love with its beauty and wanted to share the experience with other women. Feeling that other women would want to share in the creativity inducing, laid back tropical venue that is Yelapa, Women’s Art Week was born.
Since art making is at its best in an environment that is void of mundane hassles of everyday life, Women’s Art Week was developed with this in mind: "Women are free to spend their time expressing themselves creatively instead of thinking about doing the dishes!" says Briano.
The showing of art will include members from the 2009 trip and encompass a variety of style and media.
